“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your
freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”
The ministry team leads the church in learning about our three SBC offerings: Annie Armstrong for North American mission work, State Missions offering in September for PA/SJ ministries and Lottie Moon at Christmas for International missions.
The following are the current ministries we are involved in at Paoli Community Church.
Other ministries we have been involved in includes working at the Chester County Food bank in Malvern, making table decorations for Surrey Services, for over 25 years made Thanksgiving cookies for the Thanksgiving dinner at Chester County Prison. We were the only Church that was allowed to do this. One of our men preached at the prison every week and we are praying to be able to restart this ministry once all the Covid restrictions have been removed.
Pottstown Bible Church
Twice yearly food drive for Pottstown Bible Church. They feed the homeless and food challenged in the Pottstown area. Serving a hot breakfast prior to their service, a hot lunch after also providing additional food to take home every Sunday.
We have had church members in the past assist with meals but due to service times we are unable to assist with serving at the present. We also assist financially.
We have provided snacks twice for the staff at Paoli Hospital during the pandemic. Our ladies also sew pillows for the cardiac surgery patients to assist them in post op recovery. One lady knits hats for the babies in the NICU.
Each Thanksgiving we provide Thanksgiving dinner for the officers of the Tredyffrin Police Department who are working all 3 shifts Thanksgiving Day. It is a full meal with turkey, ham. various vegetables, and especially desserts.
We have worked with Macedonia Mission for years. It is run by Rev. John Canty and his wife Rochelle. They have a Christian Ministry to mostly homeless men, although there are increasing numbers of women being impacted. He has a mission building downtown Philadelphia, but it is a small building and they have not been able to hold their services there because of Covid regulations. They preach the power of Christ and assist with feeding. We provide personal items every Christmas for the men and assist Rev Canty if something special comes up.
We prepare and serve a meal every other month to the Young Lives group in Phoenixville. This is a group that ministers to teenage mothers and their kids. We have assisted with diapers as needed through a church wide diaper shower and try to assist with other any other needs that may arise between meetings. We have provided Christmas gifts to all mothers, children, and leaders. They teach the girls life skills and witness to them about the love of Christ. We sit in on the meetings and participate as we can. The Young Lives group is part of the nationwide Young Life.
We have done several ministries to Green Meadows Nursing Home in Paoli. We have provided activities for the residents and gospel presentations. Last year at Easter, we provided 142 cupcakes for the residents and staff along with other snacks and a presentation of the Easter message. This year we are planning on doing cookies for all residents and staff along with a new presentation of the gospel. We are hoping to start a Bible study there.
